Introducing Ulti-Mate
Ulti-Mate is a home base for ultimate frisbee teams - practice plans, drills, schedule, RSVPs, roster, and film in one workspace. Here's why we're building it.
If you've ever helped run an ultimate team, you know how much off-field work it takes. Tryout signups, field reservations, practice plans you frankensteined together from three others last month, the roster spreadsheet, the attendance spreadsheet, the carpool spreadsheet, the other spreadsheet you forgot to send the link to, the midnight texts to folks who haven't RSVP'd yet, etc, etc, etc. So much blood, sweat, and tears - and a lot of it happens off the field.
It's time we did something about all this, so we're building Ulti-Mate. The first version is live today at ulti-mate.app with a lot more improvements on the way! Since this is our first proper introduction, let me answer a few questions - starting with what this is, and ending with how you can help.
What is Ulti-Mate?
Ulti-Mate is a home base for running an ultimate team. It pulls together practice plans, drills, the schedule, RSVPs, attendance, film review - work that usually sprawls across five or six apps - into one cohesive workspace the whole team can see.
Think of it as an operating system for your team, shrinking the admin work so we can focus our energy on what actually matters - developing players, talking tactics, and making memories with friends.

What's the goal?
Today's app is the first piece of something bigger. Our mission is to help build, support, and grow the vibrant ultimate frisbee community with software.
In USA Ultimate's 2024–26 strategic plan, they committed to investing "in technological improvements to modernize systems … and improve customer experiences," including better event and sport-management tooling for local disc organizations.1 And just this month, Ultiworld acquired Statto, the sideline stat-tracking app, to give it a new home and invest in its future.2 People across the sport are putting real work into its tools, and we want to help too.
The sport could use that help right now. Ultiworld covered the 2026 SFIA industry report in April: total ultimate participation fell from about 2 million in 2024 to 1.7 million in 2025, and core participation is down more than 40% since 2020.3 Meanwhile, per the same report, team sports as a whole just had their biggest growth year on record. I can't personally vouch for those numbers, but if we can make running a team a little easier - and give the people who run them more time for the actual ultimate - that feels like a good way to pitch in.
What's in this first release?
For this first release, we focused on the tools a team can put to work right away:
- Practice plan builder. Drag drills onto a plan, split into parallel groups, and quickly share updates with the team.
- Reusable drill library. Create a drill once and continuously reuse it in any plan afterwards.
- Schedule & RSVPs. Practices, events, and RSVPs all in one place.
- Roster & attendance. One roster with attendance history and trends.
- Collaborative film room. Link game footage, mark the moments that matter, and leave comments right on the timeline.
Who is this for?
Playing or coaching on your own? The free personal workspace is for you. You get unlimited access to all the features for personal use. This is a great way to test out the planning tools and join in on the community features as they arrive. It's completely free, no card required, and takes about a minute to set up.
Running a team? Opt for the team plan. Captains, coaches, and team managers get the full collaborative workspace for their entire roster. Only one person pays for the team and every player you invite joins free. It's $30 a month for an adult team or $15 for college, high school, and youth teams. The first month is free with no card required, so you can run a real month of your season before paying anything. Setup takes about five minutes, and you can start today.
Off-season coming up? Pause the team plan and pick it back up next year - everything you built stays available, read-only, for you and your whole team.
How does it work?
- Sign in at ulti-mate.app with Google or any email address.
- Set up your team - add some basic team information.
- Invite your roster by email and everyone sees the same workspace.
- Build your first practice plan - drag and drop drills, set timings, share it.
- Run your season - RSVPs, attendance, film sessions, etc.
There's a guided tour for every page and a getting-started checklist in the app to help new users get started.
How can you help grow Ulti-Mate (and the sport)?
If this sounds useful, here's what would help most:
- Try it. Start free - a personal workspace costs nothing, and your team's first month is free.
- Join the Discord. This is our community's front door - feedback, feature suggestions, early previews, and a direct line to us. Tell us what's broken, what's missing, and what your team really needs.
- Share with a captain. You probably know a person on your team buried in spreadsheets. Send them this article.
- Chip in on Ko-fi if you would like to help support our small team.
And if you'd like to help us more directly - whether you run a team or coach, or create for the wider ultimate community - we'd love to hear from you. If previewing and testing new features before they're widely released sounds like your thing, email us at hello@ulti-mate.app and we'll get you early access.
We're also on Instagram for updates and highlights, and if email is more your speed, feel free to write to us at hello@ulti-mate.app.
In my 10+ years of playing this sport, ultimate has given me health, discipline, teamwork, courage, and most importantly life-long friends. Almost everyone I've met in the community has their own version of that sentence, and I'm hoping that by reducing some of the logistical headaches, we can continue to sustain and grow the ultimate community for generations to come.
If that's a future you're interested in, come join the Discord, and help shape Ulti-Mate. Less admin, more ultimate - see you on the field!
