Welcome to Feature Friday #1, our weekly summary of what's new in Ulti-Mate! This week (July 24-30) we shipped: multi-step wizards for every create-and-edit form, smoother page loads, and more than 40 smaller fixes. Multi-step wizard forms
Every create-and-edit modal form now uses the same multi-step wizard flow to better organize information and make it easier to create and edit entities. This is live now for events, activities, film, and locations.
The new form has a left rail which shows the steps, a right panel with the relevant fields, and a review step at the end that allows users to confirm before submitting. Required fields and form validation are highlighted more uniformly and there's a confirm to cancel to prevent users from accidentally losing their progress.
Smoother page loads
Pages used to blank out while the next one loaded. Now the app holds the screen you're on until the next one is ready, then shows skeletons of what's coming - the roster's rows, the plan editor's columns - instead of a spinner over nothing. Going back also puts you where you were scrolled to, which you'll notice most on a long roster.
Smaller fixes
- The schedule row leads with the date and shows the RSVP tally at a glance.
- Rescheduling an event without changes no longer replaces the original event.
- Recurring practices show their end date as a date.
- The blog has an RSS feed now, at `/feed.xml`.
- Menus, dialogs, and checkboxes across the app behave properly with a keyboard and a screen reader, and the small controls are finally big enough to hit with a thumb.
- Plus more than 40 smaller fixes across the same screens - find the full list in the #changelog channel in the Discord.
What we're working on next
Three things are up next: gathering feedback from our initial users, improving the detail pages for each entity - events, activities, film, and locations - and starting work on a collaborative tryouts flow, which we're aiming to have ready before college teams start their seasons.
