What is Ulti-Mate?
An app for running an ultimate frisbee team. It keeps your practice and game plans, drill library, film, schedule, roster, and attendance in one place, instead of spread across spreadsheets and group chats.
Who is it for?
Captains and coaches first, since they do most of the organizing. Players get the schedule, RSVPs, and the practice and game plans you publish. Parents and fans can follow along.
Is it free?
Personal use is free forever: build practice plans, drills, and film for yourself, with no card needed. The Team plan is a monthly subscription for your whole roster. It's one flat price per team, with a lower rate for college, high school, youth, and coach-development programs. Your first month is free. See plans for pricing and what each includes.
Does every player have to pay?
No. One person pays for the Team plan at one flat monthly price, and every player, coach, and admin they invite joins free.
How long does setup take?
A few minutes. Name your team and pick a division, and you can start right away. Then invite your roster by email and post your first practice.
How do teammates join?
An admin adds people by email, or pastes a list straight from a spreadsheet. Once someone accepts, they're on the roster and can see the schedule and the plans you've published.
Is there a mobile app?
Ulti-Mate is a web app you can add to your phone's home screen. Open the site on your phone and it offers to install, or use the Install button in Preferences. Once installed, it opens like any other app. There's nothing to download from an app store, and your players don't need to install anything to RSVP.
Do we have to type in all our drills?
No. Paste in the text of your drills, or upload a PDF (typed or scanned). Ulti-Mate pulls out each drill for you to check and edit before it's added to your library. It's in beta, and each team gets a set number of imports for now.
Can we print a practice plan?
Yes. Every plan prints or saves as a PDF, with the team name, the plan name, and the plan's comments on it. Every event, plan, location, and film also has a share link and a QR code.
Does it work outside the US?
Yes. The weather forecast is US-only, because it comes from the National Weather Service. Everything else works anywhere. Each event keeps its venue's timezone, and temperature and wind can show in °C and km/h.
Does it track attendance?
Yes. Each event's roster shows who was invited, who answered, and who came. It breaks down by team role, so you can see at a glance that eight of your eleven players are in and both coaches are out. On a mixed team, it also breaks down by matching player. Everyone invited can see the turnout, but only that player and team leadership can see who was marked absent.
Does it show the weather for our practices?
Yes. Every event at a saved field shows the forecast for that field from 6 days out until it starts: temperature, wind, and the chance of rain hour by hour, plus any official weather alerts. After the event, the forecast stays saved on it. It's US-only for now, since the forecast comes from the National Weather Service.
Does it tell us when it's too hot to play?
Yes. Every event's forecast shows a heat precaution level based on USA Ultimate's published guidelines. It uses the wet bulb globe temperature where the National Weather Service provides it, and the NOAA heat index everywhere else. When the level calls for action, the event lists what the guidelines recommend, like hydration breaks, a shorter cap, or moving to a cooler time. The decision is still yours. Read the guidelines.
Do I need a whole team to get started?
No. Sign in and your free personal workspace is ready. Build your drill library, draft practice plans, and keep your own schedule. Set up your team when you're ready to bring everyone in. Compare plans to see what each includes.
What happens to our data if we stop paying?
Nothing is deleted. The team goes read-only: everyone can still see your plans, drills, film, and roster, but nobody can make changes until you reactivate the Team plan.
What does "first month free" mean?
Every team you set up gets its first month on the Team plan free, with no card required. If you don't continue, nothing is deleted. The team goes read-only until you reactivate.
Who gets education pricing?
College, high school, middle school, youth club, and junior national/Worlds programs, plus coach-development programs - the same Team plan at a reduced rate.
